Comics and a Few Frustrations

Comics and a Few Frustrations

Dear Readers, apparently I underestimated just how prolific I was when I created the comic series Contentment is for Cows. There are 136 scenes that I posted weekly over a two and a half year period. Holy Holsteins! And how did my memory get so blurry?

If I were to try to post the entire series between now and the end of October I would be force feeding you six to seven scenes a week. It’s too much for a post that advertises to be “short and sweet.”

I need to take a break from my weekly posting, not just because it’s summer, but also because my life as I know it is about to turn upside down. My commitment to working with a mentor/Editor is going to be time-consuming and I want the most out of this experience.

Here’s my solution: I will post the comics weekly beginning today. I’ll set up the posts, a few scenes a week, to go out automatically to allow for me to be “hands-free” during my program. When I return to writing my regular blog in November, I’ll continue posting the comics at the end of every post until we get to the end of the story.

As the creator of these comics, I’m advocating for the best reader experience: Email is the best way to enjoy the storylines. I know, I know, we have all oversubscribed to way too many newsletters. But these comics are a sequential series; the episodes follow a logical order and Facebook’s algorithms won’t respect that. If you want to continue to read these via Facebook, please follow the Contentment is for Cows page on Facebook here, if you haven’t already. My personal page will no longer be public after today.

Comments, emails and contact will be more than welcome, as usual. One of the joys of writing the comics was hearing from the readers who enjoyed them.

And so, let’s begin. From the top. I am what is known as a “naive artist.” I learned and experimented as I went. My apologies beforehand, but I couldn’t draw the shape of a head until about chapter five. It’s part of the journey. Below are the opening comics introducing the three sisters about to move in together.

Keep your joy.

Posted every Sunday.

Contentment is for Cows: Normally a blog, but through the summer and fall of 2026, it’s a sit-com on paper.
