Comics Revisited

Comics Revisited

Dear Readers, I’d like your opinion.

Since starting this blog in January of 2014 I have always taken the summer off. I would like to do so again this year but with a twist. Instead of writing my usual posts, I’d like to repost my Contentment is for Cows comics.

A common theme in this blog has been creative expression. The comics were my first foray into that sphere. I learned a ton. Not just how to draw, though that was a major part of it, but how to construct a story, and then… To be willing and brave enough to share it.

I followed Charles Schulz’s advice: “Draw what you like and hope others like it too.” Others did like it. In my own completely subjective opinion, it’s a fun, chick-lit-sit-com style comedy, with good characters, strong storylines and lots of chaos. Admittedly, it is a slow boil as my storytelling abilities improved with each chapter. As a bonus you can observe how my artistic abilities developed in real time. Somewhere, about Chapter five, I finally figured out how to draw the shape of a head. My progression as a comic artist is part of the story.

But here’s the challenge; there are 137 scenes. Insane. How did I ever manage to do all that? In order to get the entire series posted by Labour Day, I will have to post two to three scenes at a time. Originally, I posted one scene a week. These are comics, mind, — they do not take long to read. I would prefer to keep the comics within the blog and post exclusively via email without sharing to Facebook; algorithms are not designed for sequential series. Subscribing will be the only and the best way to follow along.

I’m so grateful for all the support I’ve had through these creative ventures. Taking the summer off has its appeal, but so does staying in touch. Dear Readers, I’m asking … Would you like to re-visit the comics? Or, if you haven’t read them, are you curious?

Please let me know via the contact method that works for you; comment below, DM or comment on Facebook, or email me at anne@contentmentisforcows.com.

Keep your joy.
